Continental Subaru was this year’s Title Sponsor for Alaska Pride Fest 2015 – a week-long LGBT celebration of diversity in the country’s largest state. Now in it’s 38th year, Alaska Pride Fest’s week-long celebration brings together local businesses, organizations, allies and the LGBT community with over 30 events, ending with the popular Pride Parade & Festival. This year’s event was the highest attended Pride events on record! We are proud of our involvement with Alaska Pride Fest and the community outreach programs that the festival supports thru Identity (Statewide Helpline and Advocacy; Community Center; Youth Outreach). Continental Subaru recognizes and values the entire Anchorage community; their customers, employees and business partnerships.
For the past two years, Continental Subaru has sponsored Anchorage’s annual BIKE MS event – an annual fundraiser that raises funds and brings awareness for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. On Saturday, May 30th eighty-eight Alaska bike riders participated in either a 25, 50, 75 or 110 mile bike course along the beautiful Seward Highway. Participants of the ride raised more than $80,000 for the Greater Northwest Chapter of the National MS Society. We are proud to be a part of this worthwhile event that promotes a healthy, active and community minded event – and congratulations to all the riders, event organizers and volunteers that made this year’s event a great success!
The Subaru “Share the Love” national campaign was established by Subaru of America, Inc. as a way to bring Subaru owners
together to make a difference in communities while showcasing Subaru’s vehicles.
During the event, Subaru of America, Inc. donated $250 towards every new Subaru sold and offered the customer a list of charities in which they could allocate their $250 towards. Nationally, Subaru partnered with four charities that would benefit from this campaign. ASPCA; Make-A-Wish Foundation; Meals on Wheels; and the National Park Foundation.
In addition to the four charities listed above, Continental Subaru selected two local ‘hometown charities’ in which new Subaru customers could allocate their donation:
The Eva Foundation - a small Anchorage local non-profit organization that provides support to survivors of abuse.
Nordic Ski Association of Anchorage (NSAA) – longtime partners of Continental Subaru, NSAA has sponsored various Nordic ski events that benefit the Anchorage community: Alaska Ski for Women and Ski for Kids. NSAA promotes winter outdoor sports and fitness for the Anchorage community.
On March 16th, Continental Subaru and representatives from Subaru of America, presented both charities with their Subaru Share the Love checks. Continental Subaru was one of the largest Share the Love checks that were presented in the nation’s western region.
Subaru owners LOVE promoting a fun healthy lifestyle and raised $8,389 for the Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage.
Subaru customers rally around community members in time of need and LOVE giving back. The Eva Foundation received a check for $39,702 that will assist those who need assistance during their most vulnerable time of need.
Continental Honda and Anchorage’s KBEAR 104.1 have partnered up with one of the most worthwhile causes - Country Cares for St. Jude Kids®.
Country Cares is one of the most successful radio fundraising events in America. Hundreds of radio stations across the country have helped raise more than half a billion dollars for the life-saving work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
This past year, Anchorage raised $78,102 that will greatly benefit the children and their families effected by childhood cancer.
